Jessica Simpson was born July 10, 1980 in Abilene, Texas. Jessica's father was a psychologist and also the youth minister in the local Baptist church. Jessica sang in the church choir and at the age of 12 headed off to audition for The Micky Mouse Club. She tanked it in the final rounds and lost the gig to the child celebs Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
With her tail tucked between her legs she came back home to Texas and sank her chompers into Christian music. It wasn't long before a small record label noticed her. She was all set to release her christian tunes when the label went bankrupt. After all the work she had been doing, Jessica kept on. Her dad Joe who was now her manager took his young daughter on tour. Jessica began performing on the Christian Youth Conference circuit. Jessica was still in Junior High and she was beginning to live her dream. Selling her home-recorded albums after her performances and getting to sing with famous gospel acts like Kirk Franklin and Ce Ce Winans. The Christian youth crowd loved Jessica's music and bought everything they could get their hands on. Jessica's music even started to cross over to the pop-music crowd. Jessica was signed by Mottola and then started touring with the boy band 98 Degrees. Where she met and fell head over heals for it didn't take long for Nick Lachey.
Jessica and Nick finally got married in October 2002. MTV offered the couple a reality show based on their everyday lives and everyone world wide knew their names. But their marriage like many in Hollywood just wasn't built to last. Jessica Simpson's divorce was finalized in June 2005. Just as her movie career was taking off and Nick's career was floundering like a dead fish. Jessica's big movie debut came in 2005 with The Dukes of Hazzard and set her up for sex symbol status. She has also starred in 2006, Employee of the Month, and has a new movie in post-production - Blonde Ambition (2007).
